Announcing the Blanco Quilt Sew Along!

I am so excited to announce the Blanco Quilt Sew Along kicks off on the 26th of April! I kept going back and fourth on whether I should do a quilt along or not, but I thought what the heck let’s do this thing. From now until May 1st the pattern is 20% off in my pattern shop. So grab your copy of the pattern and get ready for some sew along fun!

First off, if you are new here, you can read more about my Blanco Quilt pattern and the inspiration behind the design HERE. Second, be sure to see the amazing quilts created by my team of pattern testers for color inspiration! And finally, let’s get started!

What exactly does a By Hilary Jordan sew along look like? Well, we’re going to discover the answer to that question together because this is my very first sew along. I’ve participated in several sew alongs throughout the years, but this is my first time hosting my own, and it will certainly be a fun adventure. Because this is my first time hosting a sew along, there might be some changes along the way. But never fear, it’s going to be fun, and it’s going to be amazing! And at the end of it we’re all going to have a new gorgeous Blanco Quilt to share with the world!

Blanco Quilt Sew Along Details

The Blanco Quilt is the perfect confident beginner pattern which will help you practice and learn a variety of techniques. The block construction features a center square in a square unit, half square triangles, and flying geese. Each week we will walk through the basics of these units, as well as share tips & tricks for piecing, pressing, trimming, etc.

The official sew along will be starting April 26th 2021, but you can hop in at any time. Plus, these blog posts will never go away, so even after the sew-along is over, you’re still welcome to participate!

How to Participate

There’s no official sign-up for the sew along, and the only thing you have to do to participate is make a version of the Blanco Quilt. A few ways to follow along are as follows:

  • Sign up for my weekly newsletter for reminders of the week’s prompts.
  • Check back here on the blog for weekly tutorials and answers to comments.
  • Use hashtag #BlancoQuiltSAL on Instagram when posting pics so that you can share your progress as well as be entered to win prizes!

Sew Along Supplies & Fabric Requirements

To join the fun, you will need a copy of the Blanco Quilt pattern plus your basic sewing supplies and fabric of your choosing. You can find a few recommended supplies for the pattern HERE. As written, the Blanco Quilt features a two color option and a fat quarter option. During the sew along I will be making the throw size version using fat quarters. You are welcome to make whatever size you like! I’ve made all three and they’re all fantastic, but I might be a little biased. 😉

Prizes

I’m currently working to offer a variety of prizes throughout the sew along. Friday evening each week, a random winner will be drawn from the progress photos posted in the #BlancoQuiltSAL tag on Instagram! Using the hashtag will be your entry to win these prizes and remember, your account must be public for us to see what you share!

If you are sewing along with us, be sure to share the below image to your social media account. Tag @byhilaryjordan and use the hashtag #BlancoQuiltSAL and you’ll be entered to win a $25 Etsy gift card! You have until the start of the Sew Along to enter. The winner will be chosen from all the posts at random on April 26th.

I am excited and also a bit nervous about this sew along! I hope you join me and I cannot wait to see all the gorgeous versions of the Blanco Quilt that will be created over the next few weeks. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me via email or in the comments below.
