Happy Thursday, or 4th Monday as I like to call it, since this week has been crazy! 😂 Today I am thrilled to be a part of the Typecast of Characters Blog Tour hosted by Sheri Cifaldi-Morrill of Whole Circle Studio!
Sheri launched her Typecast English Paper Piecing pattern at QuiltCon this past February, and you can find the Typecast pattern guide and paper packs at: https://shop.wholecirclestudio.com/typecast. This is only my second completed EPP project and I love how easy it was to put together.
I jumped at the opportunity when Sheri asked if I would be interested in making the letter H for the blog tour! I was always the kid that didn’t have their full name on the fun souvenirs at gift shops, so anything with the letter H on it became mine. 💙
When the papers for the block arrived they are all together in a perforated sheet. Thankfully the H does not come with that many pieces, but if you’re working with a more challenging letter, definitely label the pieces before taking it apart.
I thread basted my block using Aurifil 50wt thread and a Tulip milliners needle. I am firmly in the thread basting camp when it comes to EPP. I tried glue basting on a project once and it was a sticky disaster. 😂 I get enough of those with my kids, I don’t need it while sewing as well.
Since my goal for the year is to work with my stash, I pulled a fat quarter of Luna Sol fabric by Felice Regina for the H & a fat quarter of Robert Kaufman Essex Linen for the background. I actually broke my no fabric buying streak to get an additional half yard of each fabric so that I can turn this into the Zip It Up! case from Patterns by Annie. 🙈
