Fabric Goals For 2019

I don’t have a ton of goals for 2019, but they all fall into the same theme of using what I have. My first goal is heavily influenced by the fact that I bought entirely too much fabric in 2018. First step to recovery is admitting you have a problem right? My incoming fabric accumulation greatly outnumbered my completed projects, and it feels bad man.

The fabric piles have taken over and my goal for 2019 is: Little to no fabric purchases during the first half of the year (longer if possible). I have plenty of UFOs & WIPs that have all their components ready to go, so in theory this should not be that difficult. I even have large cuts of fabric for garments and quilt backs too. Honestly, the hardest part is going to be the FOMO when new things are announced.

There are a couple of things I am doing to help get the ball rolling on using my stash, because we all know it is much easier to buy more fabric than hunt through what we own. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I’m currently playing along with the American Patchwork & Quilting #QAMStashBash Instagram Challenge. It’s all about sharing your stash, and so far it has been a great way for me to organize and get reacquainted with the fabrics I already own.

I also joined the American Patchwork & Quilting 2019 UFO Challenge. It’s a Facebook group and PDF printout that, in theory, keeps you accountable for finishing 12 of your UFOs. I’ve joined this one in the past but wasn’t able to stick with it, that was before they had a FB group though. I was able to fill the 12 slots and still have things leftover in my bin of abandoned projects.

Each month they randomly select a number and that is the project you complete that month. For January it’s #3 which is my Tula Pink City Sampler from 2016. You can see my previous progress at #HilarysCitySampler.

And because I am a serial multi-tasker, I also joined the fun of the #iHeartYouSewAlong. The I Heart You quilt pattern is a collaboration between Then Came June patterns and Pen and Paper Patterns. It’s super adorable, and I pulled all the fabrics for my version from my stash!

I’m really excited about this new quilt and (hopefully) finishing up my city sampler. What are some of y’all’s crafty goals for 2019?
