Prism Play Quilt – Make Modern Magazine

Introducing the Prism Play Quilt! My newest quilt pattern featured in Make Modern Magazine! ✨This is the first time a pattern of mine has been published in a magazine and I am so dang excited!

A geometric quilt named Prism Play consisting of triangles being held up in front of a floral mural.

My goal with this design was to create something that would be visually striking as well as simple to construct. Using a four color gradient will yield the best visual result for the overall quilt.

For my fabrics I used Northcott Colorworks Premium Solids in the colors Bahama Blue, Capri, Lagoon, and On Thin Ice. I have worked with the Northcott solids in the past but this was my first time using them for an entire quilt. They have such a wonderful feel and weight. Plus they washed up beautifully and didn’t bleed.

This quilt is one of the last ones I quilted on my domestic machine before upgrading to my longarm. To continue with the triangle theme, I did a variety of straight lines across the quilt. The intersections created the coolest triangle grid across the quilt. For the thread I used the new Wodnerfil Polymatte thread. It’s technically a longarm thread but it worked really well on my domestic.

My wonderful quilt holder who is now taller than I am. 💖 I’m incredibly grateful that Make Modern loved my design enough to feature it in issue 71 of their magazine and I hope you love it too! Get your digital issue now at their website and let’s make a Prism Play quilt together.
