Quilter’s Planner Sew Along – January Block

Last fall I was fortunate enough to get the new 2018 Quilters Planner at Quilt Market. I’ve always been terrible at keeping up with a planner, but I love the idea of having one tailored to quilters and creatives in general. I had the 2017 & 2016 versions of the planner, but they were mildly used. Hopefully this year it’ll get more use than my previous years! To go along with the planner this year is a magazine filled with patterns from several prominent designers, and QP is hosting a sew along for each of the monthly blocks.

My friend Leslie twisted my arm into joining, but I totally planned on doing it anyway!;) One of my goals for this year is to work from my existing fabric stash. I’ve had a bundle of Elizabeth Hartman Paintbox Basics in my stash for a couple years now, and thought this was the perfect opportunity to use it. The fabrics are bright, colorful, and most importantly… free! I paired the bundle with Kona White for the background and will be using Essex Yarn-Dyed Linen in Steel for the alternate sashing.

Now that I am home from QuiltCon I need to make the February blocks, but we’re in the middle of a move so they’ll have to wait.;)
