Since I am newish to quilting, I was a bit intimidated to submit a quilt to the Bloggers Quilt Festival. But, one of the things I love about this online quilting community is how supportive and friendly everyone is! So for my first quilt I am submitting my Craftsy BOM quilt that I made for William.
I wasn’t sure on if I should enter it into the scrappy category or the throw quilt category, but since most of these fabrics came straight out of my stash I went with Scrappy!
This quilt was a quilt of firsts for me. Most of these blocks I had never made before doing this quilt. I learned so many skills working on this quilt, and that is one thing that I loved so much about this Craftsy class.
This quilt was also the first time I had ever done FMQ. I was so intimidated at first, but once I got started I loved it! I used Aurifil #2311 and it quilted up wonderfully. I did an all over meandering pattern because I thought it would be the easiest since I am a beginner.Once I got the hang of it, it was really easy ๐
Since it has been raining like crazy for the past 2 days I was only able to get some indoor shots of the quilt. The backing i did super scrappy because I didn’t have enough yardage for a backing, and because I love the look of it. It is perfect for my little crazy William ๐
This block with the fussy cut Berenstain Bears was originally going to be a pillow to go with this quilt that I made William, but I changed my mind and used it in the backing instead. I wasn’t sure how I would like it, but I am glad I put it there.
This is my favorite block in the quilt. I love the fussy cut Batman, and I loved putting together this star. When we went shopping for fabric for the binding, I let William choose the color and he chose this awesome Kona Sour Apple. It is so bright and cheerful, and I love that William picked it out.
Here is the whole thing in all its crinkly glory. This is definitely a quilt that is well used and loved. William sleeps with it every night ๐
Super cute sampler!
SUCH a cool quilt! Good on you for entering!!!
What a fabulous quilt! I love the batman details! And I think that backing is awesome!
