Weekend Happenings & Baby Peyton’s Quilt

Well my laziness is not 100% cured, so that is why I am posting about our weekend on Tuesday 🙂 So, this past Friday we headed to College Station for Jeff to sponsor a team & participate in a golf tournament with his old department.

While he was golfing, William and I went and hung out with my sister and then our good friends Brandon and Christine. They are expecting their first child this December, and I am super excited because they are having a girl!! Now I get to sew little girl stuff!

The have 2 sweet doggies, Dakota a Huskie and Bogie a Boston Terrier. Bogie has those bug bugeyes that are so ugly that they’re cute 🙂 and he is the best little cuddle buddy. He crawled up on my when I was sitting on the couch and fell asleep. He then started to snore lol

And he loved to give kisses, especially to William since William was on his level and could be easily attacked with loving. After Jeff slept off the fun he had at the golf tournament, we went to have brunch at Hullabaloo’s. Now my fellow Aggies please don’t hate me, but this was the first time we have ever been to Hullabaloo’s!

For all you non-Aggies, Hullabaloo’s is an old diner just outside College Station in Wellborn, TX. Hullabaloo’s was one of the first restaurants featured on Food Network’s Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives. You can check out the episode here.

It was just as delicious as everyone says it is!! William got a pancake that was bigger than his face, Jeff got a delicious looking green chile burger, and I got a to-die-for ham & cheese omelet with home fries.

I definitely know that we will be eating at Hullabaloo’s every time we go to College Station from now on!

William and his Aunt Christine. He loves his auntie Tine, and William was really intrigued by the idea that baby Peyton was in her tummy. Hopefully this sticks around for when Jeff and I decide to have another baby.

This weekend I also got to give Christine and Brandon the little quilt that I made for Peyton.

William isn’t quite tall enough to hold the quilt up for a good picture, but he wanted to help 🙂 This picture probably shows the colors the best though. I used a charm pack and yardage of Bonnie and Camille’s Scrumptious collection.

I used this awesome tutorial for a car seat quilt from Moda Bake Shop to make the quilt. It was a really easy to follow tutorial, and I definitely think I will be using it again in the future. I wish I Would have made William one when he was little because the quilt has ties on the side that allow you to tie it onto a car seat or stroller.

I backed the quilt in a super soft Minky and I didn’t use a batting between the layers. Texas winters are cold, but not that cold so I didn’t want the quilt to be too heavy. I quilted it with an allover loopy pattern with 50wt Aurifil 2311. I love this color thread because it is an eggshell color and it doesn’t take away from the quilt itself.

Christine loved the quilt! I can’t wait to make Peyton some more goodies. I love making things for William, but every now and then I need to do something girly with pinks and flowers 🙂
