QUILTER Typography Cross Stitch Pattern

There’s a new addition to the By Hilary Jordan shop, my Quilter Cross Stitch pattern! This pattern was originally designed for students in my Intro to Cross Stitch class at QuiltCon. The ombré design in the letters is a fun touch to this otherwise simple design. Furthermore, what I love most about this cross stitch pattern is how easy it is to customize it.

Cross-stitch embroidery of the word 'QUILTER' in a red to pink gradient, displayed on white fabric, with three spools of pink and red thread arranged beside it.

About the Pattern

I’ve charted the design to be made with three colors in a light to dark gradient. As charted it features three shades of pink, but you can use whatever colors you want! As long as there is a light, to medium, to dark color shift throughout the piece. This version was stitched using Aurifloss, which is a six strand separating floss from Aurifil. The colors are Blush 2415, Peachy Pink 2435, and Medium Peony 2440.

Whether you’re a quilter or a cross-stitcher (or both!), my hope is that this little project inspires you to embrace all forms of creative expression. Making, in any form, is about slowing down, enjoying the process, and creating something meaningful with your own hands. And honestly that’s what I love most about cross stitch. The slow meditative process of the craft is immensely calming and grounding for myself.

Ready to Stitch Your Own Quilter Cross Stitch?

If this project has inspired you to give cross-stitch a try, I encourage you to jump right in! Whether you’re already a seasoned stitcher or a complete beginner, cross-stitch is a super accessible craft. Unlike with quilting, the supplies are affordable and easy to come by. All you need is some fabric, a needle, thread, and a bit of patience. 😆 Plus it’s super portable!

Feel free to share your own cross-stitch or quilting projects in the comments! I’d love to hear about what you’re working on. What other words do you think I should add to this cross stitch pattern series?

Happy stitching! ✂️🧵
