Hey y’all! We are a little over 1 week into the New Year! It took a few days, but I have finally ironed out what I want my plans & goals for the year to be. I like to keep things relatively simple and have goals that are more open ended and approachable. Let’s be real, there doesn’t need to be a “New Me” I just need to be more organized. π€£
New Year, Same Me, Better Plans
First off, I am rolling into 2022 with this energy. πͺ No more putting stuff off. No more βin the future, Iβll do better and expect better.β If the past two years of pandemic life have taught me anything, it is that we live in a world where nothing is certain but the present moment.
For years I have always tried to keep up with others are doing. Just check out my How to NOT run a Quilt/Sew Along post to know how well that works out for me. π€¦ββοΈ So for 2022 I am going to focus on doing what sets my soul on fire, keeping my family at the forefront of my decisions, and focus on what I can control.
Let’s dive in!
Personal Goals for the New Year
- Set aside time to be present in my family’s day to day life.
- Being a social media manager comes with the constant tether to my phone. Let’s be real, even on the days I’m not working, I’m working. π₯΄ For a while during 2020 and 2021 I used calendar blocking to keep track of what I was doing and when, so I want to get back into that habit for 2022. It feels weird to schedule family/personal time, but ultimately it helped prevent burnout.
- Train for and run a marathon.
- I’m currently working on this goal! I am registered to run The Woodlands Marathon in March, but due to some training setbacks and a flair in PF, I will be downgrading to the half marathon. This will be my 3rd half marathon and I’ve set my sights on registering for a Marathon at the end of 2022 or very beginning of 2023 (I’m looking at you Disney Marathon π)
- Do a pushup and work overall on my strength.
- I struggled for years of my life with crash dieting, negative self talk, and body dysmorphia. Because of this, I will not make any goals having to do with my appearance. I’ve always wanted to be able to do a “real” push up, and it’s my hope that this year I finally will be able to!
Business Goals
- Blog 1x per week
- Can you believe that I have been blogging since 2012?! It’s crazy to see how much things have changed over the years. I am a firm believer that it’s important to keep this little bloggy space going. β€
- Finish at least one UFO or WIP per month
- As a part of UFOvember I began the daunting task of taking inventory of my works in progress projects and UFOs. I’ll be using my UFO Tracker to continue the task of tracking what I am working on. I will still start new projects this year, but I’ll make a point of finishing as least one WIP/UFO per month.
- Release 2 more patterns for the year.
- This goal is pretty self explanatory. I hope to release more patterns to go with my Blanco Quilt pattern. I have them designed, just need to write them out and make them.
Honestly, I could keep going. But this is a good starting point for now. What are your goals for 2022?
