Happy Monday y’all! Today I am so excited to be a part of Bobbie’s Geeky Bobbin UFOvember! I knew immediately I needed to be a part of it because I have a TON of WIPs & UFOs. 😜 This week, UFOvember is all about picking up an old UFO and resuming work on it to get that sucker finished!
But before diving into working on a UFO, I needed to know exactly how many works in progress and unfinished objects I had laying about. I went live on TikTok yesterday to count the two plastic tubs full of WIPs/UFOs I have, plus a couple months ago I counted my cross stitch WIPs, and I even have a reel counting the quilt tops I have waiting to be quilted. All of those various counts combined comes to 56+ WIPs & UFOs. I have the plus because I know there are items missing amongst the boxes I haven’t unpacked from our move.
Tracking My WIPs & UFOs
To keep track of these projects I decided to make a printable where I can write them all down. I was talking with my friend Sam about how once the project is out of sight, then I forget it exists. So now, ideally, with all of them listed and this clipboard hanging in my office I’ll be able to get them finished.
At this point I have only written down the WIPs & UFOs that were in these plastic bins. I need to go back through all of my quilt tops and other projects to add them to the list.

My Favorite UFO
Now that all the business is out of the way, I can share about the UFO that I have picked up and resumed. I love this UFO, and it features some of my all time favorite fabrics by Lizzy House, and it makes me a bit sad that it has sat around for so long. This is my Tula Pink City Sampler quilt; you can follow along with my progress here: #HilarysCitySampler.
In 2016 Gnome Angel hosted the City Sampler sew along. My progress was better than any previous sew along I participated in, and then I had a baby. 🤣 As you can imagine, that threw a wrench in things. And I ultimately gave up trying to keep up with everything. I put away the blocks and they just sat waiting for me to fall in love again.
I moved twice since starting this project, each time finding the project and saying to myself, I need to work on that again. Well now is the time! Honestly, of all the WIPs & UFOs I have, this one is by far my favorite.
My Plan to Finish the Quilt
Back in 2016 my fabric plan was to make the blocks in the same colorways as Tula did in the book, just using Lizzy fabrics. Because I want to finish this project and not start it over, I am going to stick with this fabric plan. I only need to make 15 more blocks before I done with the block portion of the quilt. Then, I have to tackle the sashing, which thankfully I still have the original fabric I purchased for the sashing. And I am so glad I was only tempted to use the fabric over the years, but never gave into that temptation.
Once the quilt top is done it will be promptly be sent off to my longarm quilter so that it doesn’t linger in my to be quilted pile.
Here’s to finishing those long lost loves & UFOs!
Follow along with my fellow UFOvember friends!
