Friday Finish – Big Butt Baby Pants

I finished these cute pants a couple months ago, and I have finally gotten them washed and ready for baby. William’s teddy bear was a lovely model for me today since little man won’t be here for a few more weeks. The pattern I used to make the pant is the Big Butt Baby Pants pattern by Made by Rae.

They earned that name because Rae designed the pattern specifically to fit over a cloth diapered baby booty. I cloth diapered William when he was little, and I knew I would be cloth diapering little man too. They have a panel added into the back seam that accommodates the extra fluff, and it also gives the perfect opportunity to add contrasting fabric.

I used some cute pirate prints that have been hanging out in my stash for the past 2 years! They’re by Riley Blake, and I’ve been toying with the idea of fussy cutting a ship from the leftover scraps to applique on a onesie.

The BBBP (Big Butt Baby Pants) pattern is sized from 0-3 months up to 2T, so I started with the smallest and will make more from there. I used Aurifil 40wt thread to stitch the pants together. I like using a 40wt thread because it is stronger than my usual go to 50wt thread, and I always use cotton thread when sewing with cotton fabric.

Also isn’t my new recliner awesome! I am seriously in love with it! We ordered it on Amazon, and I was super skeptical about buying a piece of furniture online without testing it out first. Thankfully I was pleasantly surprised at how comfy it is, and it was way less expensive than the ones at Buy Buy Baby!

What have you finished recently?

These were on my Q3 Finish Along Goals list

Super cute! I cloth diapered all my little ones, but was too lazy to make them pants, hehe. Lucky little guy! Thank you for participating in the FAL, on behalf of the 2016 global FAL hosts.

Those are some cute pants! I think a coordinating onesie would be perfectly adorable, and it doesn't even sound like too much extra work. My daughter is expecting a little man, as well, so I'm glad I found your awesome ideas. (I stopped in from Crazy Mom's link up. ๐Ÿ™‚ )

What fun pants, love the added contrast panel in the back! Your Halloween quilt didn't go unnoticed either;-)
