I have read several posts from some of my favorite bloggers and close friends about what they have chosen to be their “Word of the Year”. I was inspired to choose a word of the year when reading Crystal’s post over at Raspberry Spool. It really hit home with me when she said,
“I need to run my own race and stop worrying what other people are doing and worry about what works for me.”
This is me in a nutshell…. I have always been the type to compare what I do to what others are doing (just ask my mom about my pre-teen years). There are so many VERY talented people in the Quilting community and, for me at least, it’s hard to not start to compare my work with others.
I end up not accomplishing much of anything because I am busy worrying if it will be cool enough, or if it will get enough Instagram likes, or if it will be loved by others. When in reality I need to focus on how what I do makes me feel.

This is such a challenge for me too. It's very difficult not to compare myself to other bloggers. Am I posting enough? Are my pictures good enough? But I always work hard to make sure that I'm true to my creative self with each thing I make. Good luck with your focus this year!
I love your word and everything you shared here. My word is EXPLORE. kind of the opposite of Focus I guess! LOL I want to explore new ideas & be open to whatever comes my way. Happy New Year!
